I am embarrassed to say that when I read lists like this one I find myself creating rationalizations for my much less than perfect behavior. A typical internal dialogue: Doesn't the fact that I am making my family compost food scraps compensate for the fact that we waste too much food? I never buy bottled water so shouldn't that make up for the iced tea I just bought from MacDonald's in a styrofoam cup? I don't take advantage of the PART bus that goes from Clemmons to Greensboro, but I am a part of a carpool to get my son to his high school.
